UNF continues its October celebration with city proclamation and faculty appreciation

UNF continues its celebration of its impact on the community during the month of October.

Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan officially proclaimed the month of October 2024 as University of North Florida month. The proclamation recognizes UNF’s enduring contributions to the city of Jacksonville, its role as a top talent provider, and its significant economic and social impact. It comes on the anniversary of UNF opening its doors in October 1972.

Much of that success is due to the UNF faculty.

The Provost’s Office and Academic and Student Affairs celebrated what faculty does for UNF by hosting Faculty Appreciation Days on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, where they gave out swag, prizes and food in the Office of Faculty Excellence.

Earlier in October, the University rolled out its new brand refresh by celebrating its students, faculty, staff and alumni’s impact on the community. UNF hosted on-campus events and giveaways, and leaders visited the Jacksonville International Airport, Jacksonville Jaguar’s stadium and several local business partners. This week, the University hosted the groundbreaking of the Coggin College of Business expansion.

UNF is proud to celebrate our growth and the incredible impact we have on the city and the nation.

“UNF has served as a beacon of opportunity for tens of thousands of students, enriching the lives of its graduates, contributing significantly to Jacksonville’s workforce, and fueling the city’s growth in a wide range of industries including business, healthcare, engineering, education, science, and technology,” the city proclamation said.
