Forbes ranks UNF online accelerated nursing second best in country

The University of North Florida’s online RN-BSN program is ranked as the second Best Accelerated Nursing Program of 2024 by Forbes Advisor.

“UNF’s online RN-BSN program offers a quality academic experience, taught by nursing faculty with expertise in practice, leadership and education,” said Dr. Michelle Edmonds, director of the School of Nursing. “This accelerated, online program understands the demands of professional nurses in academic pursuit of their BSN degree.”

Forbes Advisor ranked 13 accredited, nonprofit colleges offering an online RN-BSN program in the U.S. using data points based on the following categories:

  • Credibility: Fully accredited and nonprofit status
  • Affordability: Average annual net price for students receiving federal aid, median federal student loan debt, percentage of students in federal student loan deferment and percentage of students who take out federal loans
  • Student Outcomes: Overall graduation rate, media earnings 10 years after graduation, Pell Grant recipient graduation rate, retention rate and Pell Grant graduation rate vs. overall graduation rate
  • Student Experience: Student-to-faculty ratio, socioeconomic diversity and the program’s coursework being fully available online
  • Application Process: Acceptance rate and the use of common application

With UNF’s online RN-BSN program only a tiny fraction of the cost of Emory University’s, which ranked number one, Forbes Advisor ranked UNF for its overall student retention and graduation rate and the online availability of all coursework, apart from having to complete an in-person experience promoting community health in partnership with a local agency. Another benefit of the UNF program that Forbes Advisor pointed out was how students can graduate in three semesters or about one year, in comparison to a traditional B.S.N. degree.
