UNF celebrates the Inauguration of President Moez Limayem

The University of North Florida celebrated the Inauguration of Dr. Moez Limayem as the University’s seventh president today. Highlights included a processional of faculty, staff and students through campus, the official installation of President Limayem at the Investiture Ceremony followed by his inaugural address, and a campus celebration that featured ten $2,500 scholarship giveaways to students.

In his inaugural address, President Limayem discussed UNF’s $1.3 billion economic impact in Florida and the University’s significant return on investment when it comes to state funding — $10.63 for every state dollar invested. Recognizing the University’s role as a top provider of talent in the region and state, Limayem shared his commitment to developing creative solutions to address urgent talent needs in Northeast Florida.

The president also expressed his goal for the University to rise in national prominence to a Top 100 spot among public universities in the U.S. News & World Report annual college rankings. Limayem emphasized four strategic areas of focus for the University: student success, research and innovation, community partnerships and faculty and staff success. He also shared that UNF has already received gift commitments that will exceed its fundraising goal of $25M for this fiscal year.

The celebration’s theme “Soaring Higher Together” reflects UNF’s campus community working together for student success.
