Director
Dr. Josh Gellers is a professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and an inaugural faculty fellow for artificial intelligence at the University of North Florida. He is also an expert with the Global AI Ethics Institute, a research fellow of the Earth System Governance Project, and a Fulbright scholar to Sri Lanka. Josh’s research focuses on the intersection of environmental governance, rights, and technology. He has published dozens of articles and chapters, and written two books, including the award-winning Rights for Robots: Artificial Intelligence, Animal and Environmental Law (Routledge 2020). Josh runs Environ Rights Map, a Google Maps-based website that catalogues constitutional environmental rights around the world.

Student Assistant
Brenna Long, Anthropology Student
Brenn Long is a junior at the University of North Florida. She majors in anthropology and minors in Deaf studies. While she is most likely to be found writing an essay, in her free time, she enjoys dancing and reading.

Laura Heffernan, Associate Professor of English
Dr. Laura Heffernan served as Director of the Digital Humanities Institute from 2019-2021 and helped to develop the Digital Humanities Minor at UNF. -
Clayton McCarl, Director of the International Studies Program, Associate Professor of Spanish and Digital Humanities
Dr. Clayton McCarl founded the Digital Humanities Initiative in 2015 and served as the founding director of the Digital Humanities Institute from 2018-2019.
