Become an SI/PASS Leader

SI leaders are students who have already successfully completed the SI course they facilitate. They are recommended by faculty and are trained in the SI collaborative learning approach. SI leaders attend every class with their students and then plan and facilitate regularly scheduled study sessions that encourage student collaboration in order to gain a better understanding of the content being covered in class. The time commitment involved typically ranges from 9-11 hours per week.

General Qualifications

  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher;
  • Are above the classification of freshman and have completed at least one semester at UNF;
  • Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Have a schedule which allows them to attend lectures for the class for which they plan to be an SI leader;
  • Do not have a conduct record, and who demonstrate professionalism with the Student Success staff, their peers, and their students.

Become a Peer Success Coach

Peer Success Coaching is a free student success service designed to help students build the skills they need to succeed in college. Success Coaches are trained student leaders who provide one-on-one appointments, both in person and virtually, to help students become more confident and effective learners.

Peer Success Coaches support students in areas such as:

  • How to study in college
  • Time management tools
  • Mastering a productive routine
  • Getting and staying organized
  • Preparing for exams
  • Presentation and communication skills

In addition to individual coaching sessions, Success Coaches also offer in-class presentations on a variety of study skills and academic success topics at the request of faculty. These presentations are designed to support classroom learning and introduce to practical strategies they can apply right away.
