ASL/English Interpreting Programs

At the University of North Florida, we’re proud to offer highly interactive ASL/English Interpreting programs that meet the rigorous standards set by the Commission on Collegiate Interpreter Education (CCIE). Our faculty are deeply invested in your success—staying actively engaged in your learning experience and ensuring that our curriculum stays aligned with national interpreter education standards.

Whether you’re working toward national certification, looking to advance your skills in specialized settings, or planning to become an interpreter educator, our B.S. and M.S. programs are grounded in the latest research in both spoken and signed language. Deaf interpreters are strongly encouraged to apply and are valued members of our learning community.

All of our faculty are certified in online teaching and bring a wealth of expertise in guiding students through skill development using a mix of online and in-person methods. Every course is thoughtfully designed to ensure the best possible delivery—whether it’s fully online or blended. You’ll use cutting-edge technology and have opportunities to connect with your professors, classmates, and course content both in real time and on your own schedule.

To participate successfully in the program, students should have reliable high-speed internet and a desktop or laptop computer equipped with Microsoft Office and a webcam.

Good news if you live in the South! Residents of 15 Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) states may qualify for in-state tuition through the Academic Common Market (ACM). Currently, UNF’s master’s degree in ASL/English Interpreting is approved for residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. You’ll just need to apply through your state’s ACM office and be approved—then you’ll pay in-state rates even if you live out of Florida. Learn more about the ACM and check your state’s process here.
