UNF Preschool promotes an atmosphere of creativity, freedom of choice and positive interaction with our staff and children of the University and the community.
UNF Preschool is a year round program, nationally accredited by NAEYC, 5 star rated by Guiding Stars of Duval County and the proud recipient of the Gold Seal of Excellence by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
The Center is more than a day care or child care. It strives to provide high quality education to young children aged 2 1/2 to 5 year olds in a safe, culturally diverse and nurturing environment.
The program is open to the University of North Florida students, faculty, staff and general public.
Various options such as free Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) only, VPK wrap around and Part-time hours are available.
We also offer various enrichment programs such as Spanish, Little dancing Stars, Happy Feet and A Finer Art.
UNF Preschool promotes the cognitive, social and emotional, language and physical development of children through high level curricula, assessments and developmentally appropriate practices.
The center also serves the University's academic community by allowing faculty members to conduct research. This research is interdisciplinary in nature and involves various University departments and research projects. Furthermore the Center serves as a pre-internship site for its University students as well as students within its region.
During the Summer Terms, UNF Preschool continues to focus on the academic enrichment of children alongside an array of fun filled experiences such as water play days, picnics, on campus fieldtrips to TV station, kitchen at the Café and library and mud day.
UNF Preschool Alumni 10 years old and younger are welcome to attend during the summer months.
UNF Preschool strives to provide high quality education to young children in a safe, culturally diverse and nurturing environment. Our desire to promote cognitive, social and emotional, language and physical development of children through high level curricula, assessments and developmentally appropriate practices has helped us identify several key priorities where you may direct your contribution.
- Pay towards teacher trainings such as, but not limited to, obtaining Child Development Associate (CDA), obtain/renew staff credentials and attend trainings in the field of Early Childhood Education. Moreover, UNF Preschool provides 5 days of training annually to their staff to stay on par with the current trends and needs of the industry and to maintain its accreditations through NAEYC and Guiding Stars of Duval; inviting speakers and presenters expert in the field of Early Childhood Education can be very costly but your valuable contribution can help us in arranging high quality workshops and trainings for our staff.
- Scholarships for students to pay for childcare can help a student focus on their education without having to worry about childcare expenses. Your contribution can help a student in need pursue their goal of attaining their degree.
- Scholarships for UNF Preschool teachers to pay for childcare can help teachers focus on providing the best care and education to children in their classroom knowing their own child is able to attend UNF Preschool and receive the same quality of care as other children in the center.
- Providing high quality toys, games, books in classrooms and maintenance of playground equipment can be very costly. Once again, your valuable contribution can help us maintain the equipment in good repair and provide high quality materials to the classrooms on an ongoing basis.
