UNF continuing education becomes Professional and Lifelong Learning

The University of North Florida (UNF) Division of Continuing Education is thrilled to unveil its new office name, Professional and Lifelong Learning (PLL). This effort underscores UNF’s focus on delivering top-tier educational and training programs that cater to the evolving needs of individuals, professionals, employers and the broader community. 

“The mission of Professional and Lifelong Learning aligns with UNF’s Strategic Plan to engage academic units and regional industries to meet enrollment targets and workforce demands,” said UNF President Moez Limayem. “We look forward to growing our career advancement programs and professional growth opportunities to drive regional economic development.”  

Over 6,000 students enrolled in the nearly 650 courses offered by PLL in fiscal year 2024. PLL emphasizes professional and workforce development at the core of its mission, offering a comprehensive suite of programs to promote personal growth, professional advancement and corporate success. By tailoring offerings to meet the diverse goals of individuals and organizations, UNF continues to be a trusted resource for upskilling, reskilling and lifelong learning. 

“Our mission at Professional and Lifelong Learning is to provide exceptional education and training experiences,” said Dr. Edythe Abdullah, UNF Professional and Lifelong Learning dean. “We’re reaffirming our vision to be the region’s premier provider of professional development, lifelong learning and customized corporate services. This new chapter solidifies our dedication to supporting local businesses and the community as we adapt to the workforce and educational demands of today’s world.” 

UNF’s lifelong learning programs have opportunities for all from ages 9 to 99. Offerings span from personal enrichment courses to industry-recognized certifications and tailored corporate training, engaging summer camps, SAT/ACT prep, learning abroad and enriching classes for adults aged 50 and above.  

Also, with courses in artificial intelligence, both beginners and advanced learners can build or deepen their understanding of AI through dynamic, hands-on experiences. In addition to high-demand data science and analytics, project management and HR certification preparation courses, UNF PLL offers customized corporate training programs to provide tailored learning solutions that meet the unique demands of each industry, empowering teams to excel in today’s rapidly changing workforce landscape.
