UNF celebrates Black History Month

Each February, the University of North Florida recognizes Black History Month to honor and highlight the histories, stories and voices of the African American community. This month serves as a time to celebrate the African diaspora and the contributions of Black Americans as an integral part of U.S. history.

The UNF Intercultural Center has planned engaging and informative events and programs throughout the month to acknowledge the robust history and cultural influence of Black Americans.

Below are some of the month’s highlighted events:

  • Black History Month Kickoff – Wednesday, Feb.1 at Noon, Peace Plaza.
  • 42nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Scholarship Luncheon, with Speaker Cheryl Brown Henderson – Wednesday, Feb.8, at Noon, Adam W. Herbert University Center. Purchase $50 Individual Tickets here.
  • 2nd Annual Jax Melanin Market Meets Market Days – Wednesday, Feb.22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Osprey Plaza.
  • Black Student Union Fashion Show – Tuesday, Feb.28 at 6 p.m., John. A. Delaney Student Union Ballroom.
