UNF kicks off Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrations
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is nationally observed in May to commemorate the immigration of Japanese people to the United States in May 1843 and the completion of the transcontinental railroad, where the majority of tracks were laid by Chinese immigrants, in May 1869.
Because the University is on intersession break in May, UNF recognizes AAPI Heritage Month during April to ensure the full benefit of programming is available to all students. The Intercultural Center and UNF Asian Students in Alliance (UNF ASIA) student organization kicked off the month with an AAPI Heritage Month Market Day celebration at Osprey Plaza on April 6.

Asian Influence in Latin America
- Tuesday, April 12; Noon to 1:30 p.m.
- John A. Delaney Student Union, Building 58W, Ballrooms
- In collaboration with Osprey South Asian Association (OSAA) and Asian Students in Alliance (ASIA), the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) will discuss Asian influences throughout Latin America due to the 16th-century Asian immigration to countries such as Cuba, Mexico, Columbia, and Peru. Additionally, the group will explore the similarities and differences of Latin American and Asian cultures.
Asian Students of Influence

- Location: John A. Delaney Student Union, Building 58W, Ballroom A
- Hear dynamic stories and cultural experiences shared by UNF's Asian American and Pacific Islander students during an engaging panel discussion and Q&A session moderated by UNF ASIA and hosted by the Intercultural Center and Women's Center.

Road to Asia

- Celebrate the cultural diversity of Asian identities on campus at UNF ASIA’s signature event with food, entertainment, and other fun activities.
ASIA Game Night
- Thursday, April 21, 2022; 6 - 8 p.m.
- Location: Interfaith Center, Founders Hall, Building 2, Suite 1400
- UNF ASIA will take over the UNF Interfaith Center lounge for some friendly game competition.
