UNF celebrates Black History Month

Each February, the University of North Florida recognizes Black History Month to uplift and honor the histories, stories and voices of the African American community. This month serves as a time to celebrate the African diaspora and the contributions of Black Americans as part of the United States’ history.

Spearheaded by the Intercultural Center, UNF has planned engaging and informative events and programs throughout the month to acknowledge the robust history and cultural influence of Black Americans.

Below are some of the month’s highlighted events:

  • The 41st Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Celebration: Wednesday, Feb. 9 from noon to 2 p.m. on Zoom.
  • Jax Melanin Market Meets Market Days: Wednesday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Osprey Plaza
  • Black Excellence Expo: Friday, Feb. 25 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the John A. Delaney Student Union Ballrooms
