UNF dedicates new research boat
The University of North Florida held a dedication ceremony to officially unveil the new Webb Explorer Pontoon Boat today. The specialty boat is a much-needed asset for UNF’s William C. Webb Coastal Research Station, the 1,050-acre plot of pristine salt marsh wetlands that was donated to UNF by the Widan Investment Corporation in 2016.
UNF’s Webb Coastal Research Station is located down JTB over the Intracoastal Waterway and serves as a unique living laboratory for UNF research and exploration. The boat will now allow UNF students and faculty greater access to the property and expanded research opportunities.
