He recently completed a history-making run at the 121st U.S. Amateur golf tournament where he posted the best performance ever by a North Florida golfer in the event. This past year, Gabrelcik was named the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman, PING All-American, ASUN Player and Freshman of the Year and GCAA All-Nicklaus Team.

Gabrelcik claimed three individual medalist titles and finished the season ranked No. 2 in the Golfstat Collegiate Rankings. He was named one of the 20 honorees for the Haskins Award Preseason Watch List.

Throughout his freshman year, Gabrelcik posted a score of par or better in 23 of 27 competitive rounds and recorded a program record low 69.59 stroke average. UNF head coach Scott Schroeder stated that Gabrelcik had the best year in UNF’s golf program last year and anticipates an amazing four-year program career.

Gabrelcik and his Osprey teammates are scheduled to open their fall tournament slate, Sept. 11-12, at the Rod Myers Collegiate in Durham, N.C. Gabrelcik and his teammates will participate in future golf tournaments, including the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, that potentially will be televised by the Golf Channel.

Gabrelcik noted his immediate connection to UNF right from the start. Besides playing on UNF’s outstanding men’s golf team, he enjoys the short walking distance around the beautiful campus and the benefits of smaller class sizes.
