UNF’s LGBTQ Center unveils new ‘Trans Talks’ format

The University of North Florida’s LGBTQ Center has redesigned its “Trans Talks” discussion series to better serve the transgender community by providing more education on trans-specific issues for the entire campus community.

The meetings, previously only open to those who identify as trans or non-binary, will now have additional meeting options for those who just want to learn more about the community.

Upcoming “Trans Talks” will take place every two weeks; the first week is for those who identify as trans or non-binary; the second week will be for anyone wishing to learn about the trans community. Sessions currently take place via zoom on every other Tuesday from 2 to 3:30 p.m., as follows:

  • March 2: Hormone Replacement Therapy and Financial Aid for Surgeries (Trans only)
  • March 16: Supporting Trans Friends and Family (Open to all)
  • March 30: Florida Legal Name Change (Trans only)
  • April 13: Ideas on Improving Healthcare for Trans Individuals (Open to all)
