UNF student awarded prestigious international computing scholarship

Lowery has been selected as one of 10 recipients of the Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) International Honor Society’s Scholarship Award.
The UPE executive council selected Lowery based on his excellent academic record, driven professional goals, early contributions to the field, extra-curricular activities and the glowing recommendation of his UPE faculty advisor.
"John is a dedicated student and very deserving of this esteemed honor," said Dr. Sanjay Ahuja, UNF computing professor and UPE advisor. "Receiving this international award is indicative of the rigorous nature of the UNF School of Computing programs and shows that we are preparing our students for successful careers."
Lowery is currently participating in the highly selective Regency Centers IT Practicum where he works on researching robotic process automation, a subset of artificial intelligence that can automatically perform back-office tasks through business productivity software.
While at UNF, Lowery worked as an employment readiness mentor to students with intellectual and developmental differences in the On-Campus Transition program, where he taught important career-related skills such as how to develop a resume and conduct a job interview.
UPE is the only international honor society for the computing and information disciplines, duly recognized as such by the Association for Computing Machinery and IEEE Computer Society.
