UNF students donate $7,800 in earnings to university scholarship

Sports management students posingUNF sport management students worked for four days at The Players Championship this year before it was canceled due to the coronavirus. When they received the check for their work, the students generously donated all $7,800 of their earnings to the Emanuel “Manny” Hernandez, Jr. Scholarship.

Hernandez was a sport management program alum and an employee with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp when he passed away in a car accident in 2018. UNF and the Jumbo Shrimp teamed up to create a scholarship fund in his memory last summer. The scholarship funds a baseball player majoring in UNF’s College of Education and Human Services sport management program.

Kudos to our sport management Ospreys for giving back and thinking of others even in these uncertain times.
