Karen Stone is Vice President and General Counsel for the University of North Florida. Prior to joining UNF in 1992, Karen served as an Associate General Counsel for the University of Florida. Prior to beginning her career in education law in 1988, Karen was engaged in the private practice of law and also served as Corporate Counsel for Athletic Attic Marketing, an international franchising company of sporting goods stores.
Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, with high honors, from the University of Florida. She thereafter earned a Master of Arts degree in Political Science and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida. She is an active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and a past member of NACUA's Board of Directors. Karen is Board Certified in Education Law by the Florida Bar Association.

P. Christopher "Chris" Wrenn joined the Office of the General Counsel in June 2004. Prior to joining UNF, he was Real Estate Group Leader of the Legal Department of Winn Dixie Stores, Inc., where he practiced for 13 years. Prior to his employment at Winn Dixie, Chris engaged in a general business practice with the Jacksonville law firm of Boyd & Jenerette.
Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Stetson University in 1981 and his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from the University of Florida College of Law in 1984. He was awarded a Master of Arts degree in English by the University of North Florida in 2003.
Chris is a native of Winter Park, Florida. He and his wife, Margot, have five children.

John Reis has been with the University of North Florida since February 2014. He moved to Jacksonville from Orlando where he worked at a small environmental and land use law firm.
John earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in 2009. He earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2013 from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in Fort Lauderdale.
John is a native Floridian, born and raised in Orlando, and having lived all over the state. He loves traveling and visiting new places, enjoys the outdoors and volunteering his time.

Justin C. Sorrell | Senior Associate General Counsel

Justin Sorrell has been with the University of North Florida since January 2020. Prior to joining the University, Justin was in-house litigation and employment counsel for The Adecco Group North America, one of the world’s largest staffing companies. He has also worked for the employment law firm Jackson Lewis, has been a federal district court law clerk in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and has had experiences working for both the National Labor Relations Board and the U.S. Department of Labor.
Justin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from the College of William & Mary. He and his wife, Nancy, have four children. When his children are sleeping, Justin enjoys woodworking, training for triathlons, and volunteering.

Nikita Parker | Associate General Counsel

Nikita Parker has been with the University of North Florida since July 2022. Nikita began her career as an Assistant Public Defender in Pensacola, Florida, where she represented defendants charged with crimes. Subsequently, she moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where she worked for the Florida Department of Management Services (“DMS”), where she provided legal advice on matters affecting the Division of Retirement the Division of Specialized Services.
She received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminology from the University of South Florida in 2008, and a Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2014. In her free time, she loves traveling, shopping, reading, and spending time with her family.

Stephanie C. Howell | Paralegal

Stephanie Howell has been with the University of North Florida since February 2005. Prior to joining UNF, she worked as a litigation paralegal at the firm of McGuire Woods, LLP.
Stephanie earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science, in Legal Administration, from the University of West Florida in 1993 and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Troy State University in 1998. She received certification as a nationally certified paralegal in 1996.
Stephanie has been a member of the Northeast Florida Paralegal Association and a delegate of the Florida Alliance of Legal Assistants and Paralegals. She was a case researcher and writer for the Florida Jury Verdict Reporter. -
Cassandra A. Rey | Paralegal

Cassandra Rey joined the University of North Florida in February 2026. She serves as one of the University’s paralegals assisting the University’s Counsel with various matters. Prior to joining UNF, Cassandra served as a paralegal for Florida Atlantic University. Before serving in that role, she worked as a corporate paralegal for a healthcare staffing company, a tobacco company and was a paralegal in various south Florida law firms supporting attorneys with civil litigation, family, probate and transactional matters.
Cassandra obtained her Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies and Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 2011. She is a Florida Registered Paralegal who is also a member of the Florida Bar, National Association of Legal Assistants and the National Federation of Paralegal Association.
In her spare time, Cassandra enjoys traveling, photography and spending time with her family.
