Health administration master's wins 2020 Higher Education Network Award
The University of North Florida’s Master of Health Administration (MHA) program has been chosen for the 2020 Higher Education Network Award by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
The award recognizes graduate programs that prepare and advance students to become influential healthcare leaders and work to improve the field of healthcare management excellence. UNF’s MHA program was awarded this honor after panel reviews showcased metrics that elevated students’ engagement with ACHE, local Regents and chapters, and other activities that advanced healthcare management.
The MHA program continuously produces a pipeline of educated students who demonstrate a commitment to healthcare engagement by becoming ACHE Members and/or Fellows. For healthcare leaders, being an ACHE Fellow signifies the highest competency, commitment of service and recognition as an esteemed leader.
“UNF’s program is the training ground that sets the foundation for our students to learn the skillsets needed to be an influential healthcare leader and excel in solving complex healthcare problems by being a part of the conversation with local healthcare executives,” said Dr. Rob Haley, Ph.D., MHA program director and UNF professor. Jacksonville and Northeast Florida are medical hubs that allow students in UNF’s MHA program to have unprecedented access to effective healthcare management to better prepare them to adapt in uncertainty, make solid decisions and learn from local healthcare leaders.
Michael Mayo, a UNF faculty member of the MHA program, is an ACHE Fellow and also serves as hospital president of Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville. Mayo states, "UNF's MHA Program receiving the Higher Education Network Award is the culmination of many years of hard work and collaboration between our students, faculty and community healthcare leaders as the MHA Program sets students on a path of professional excellence and development."
UNF’s Master of Health Administration program is designed to meet the educational needs of men and women interested in assuming administrative and management positions in the healthcare industry. UNF will be presented with the award during ACHE’s 63rd Congress on Healthcare Leadership in March.
