Printmaking

Main Studio

The main studio supports the range of printmaking processes offered at UNF. Students learn intaglio, lithography, screenprinting and relief printmaking in a large, well-ventilated studio. Two vent hoods were replaced in 2021, one used mainly in intaglio for working with grounds and another used for working with acid.

  • Five intaglio presses, including American French Tool, Conrad, Martech, Ettan and motorized Sturges presses
  • Small portable 12-inch by 20-inch Blick Press
  • 43-inch by 30-inch Conrad Lithography Press
  • Stone lithography capabilities supported by a library of small stones purchased from Syracuse University
  • 38-inch by 55-inch Work Horse UV LED Exposure Unit for photoprocesses in lithography and screenprinting
  • Two interconnected studios, plus rooms for the exposure unit, screenprinting washout and intaglio acid work

Digital Lab

The main printmaking studio is served by an adjacent Digital Research Lab. In 2015, Professor Goloborotko used university and private funding to convert two offices into the lab and secure start-up equipment. Additional grants in 2018 and 2019 supported further equipment upgrades.

  • Five iMac computers running Adobe Creative Cloud, including two purchased with UNF Academic Technology Grants
  • Epson Stylus Pro 4000 Ink Jet printer donated by GDDM
  • HP Designjet T120 large-format inkjet printer
  • HP 700 M712 laser printer and HP Laser Jet Pro M201DW laser printer
  • Windows computer used to run an MH 700 Vinyl Cutter on loan from Professor Kozlowski
  • Two Plustek scanners, an EPSON V700 scanner, documentation stand and DSLR camera

  • Second lighting studio with a 9-foot backdrop system and strobe systems on light stands
  • Large-format 4-by-5 cameras for studio portraiture

Analog Facilities

  • Full darkroom with 17 Omega black-and-white photo enlargers
  • Easels, grain magnifiers, enlarger filters and other equipment for traditional darkroom prints
  • Two full print development sinks
