Taylor Engineering Scholarship

The University of North Florida's School of Engineering is proud to offer this scholarship sponsored by Taylor Engineering, Inc.

Founded in 1983 by R. Bruce Taylor, Ph.D, P.E., Taylor Engineering is an employee-owned engineering company specializing in issues dealing with water and sediments in natural environments. The vision of Taylor Engineering, Inc. is to be a world class coastal and water resource engineering company of impeccable character and integrity.

Criteria

Successful undergraduate applicants must:

  • meet admission requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida
  • be a declared major in Civil Engineering
  • be accepted and enrolled into the Civil Engineering program
  • have completed all the requirements to be a rising junior or senior
  • have earned a minimum, cumulative, UNF GPA of 3.0

Successful graduate applicants must:

  • meet admission requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida Graduate School
  • be accepted into the Master of Science in Civil Engineering program of study
  • have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25

Preference will be given to applicants with academic interests that align with the research priorities of the Taylor Engineering Research Institute, which are in the fields of coastal and water resources science and engineering.

Responsibilities

Scholarship recipients must:

  • enroll full-time (12+ credit hours for undergraduate, 9+ credit hours for graduate) in the semester the scholarships is awarded and earn a minimum of 24 credit hours (18 credit hours for graduate) by the end of the Spring term
  • maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 for undergraduate or 3.25 for graduate
  • remain in good standing as a student
  • comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus
  • consent to release grades to the Division of University Development and Alumni Engagement for the purpose of reporting to the Donor

Renewal

Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funding and if the applicant continues to meet all selection criteria and responsibilities. No student will be eligible to receive more than four (4) semesters of scholarship support.

The amount of the award will be determined by the fund manager, but it cannot exceed the maximum cost of tuition, books, campus housing, meal plan, transportation and miscellaneous expenses, as reflected in the annual "Cost of Education" budget prepared by the UNF Financial Aid Office.
