Wharton-Smith Endowed Scholarship

The College of Computing, Engineering and Construction is proud to announce the Wharton-Smith Endowed Scholarship. Wharton-Smith is a well-established construction company based in Sanford, Florida, with a strong presence across the Southeast, including Jacksonville. The company focuses on general contracting, construction management, preconstruction, and design-build services. This scholarship shows Wharton-Smith’s commitment to supporting the next generation of students who want to build their own path to excellence.

Criteria

Eligible students must:

• meet admissions requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida,
• earn a minimum UNF GPA of at least 3.0,
• enroll full-time with at least 12 credit hours in the Fall and Spring semesters, unless they are in the final semester of their coursework,
• be a junior or senior, and
• declare a major in Construction Management or Civil Engineering

Responsibilities

Students awarded this scholarship must agree to:

• comply with all University regulations, rules and codes of conduct governing students on campus,
• consent to release grades to the Division of Development and Alumni Engagement for the purpose of reporting to the Donor, and
• remain in good standing as a student

Renewal

Current recipients are eligible for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funding, and if all the preceding requirements have been met.

No student will be eligible to receive more than six semesters of scholarship support. The amount of the award will be determined by the fund manager, but it cannot exceed the maximum cost of tuition, fees, books, campus housing, meal plan, transportation and miscellaneous expenses, as reflected in the annual "Cost of Education" budget prepared by the Financial Aid Office. This funding will come from a combination of financial aid sources in compliance with Federal Title IV regulations and Wharton-Smith Endowed Scholarship funds.
