Sares and Sons Endowed Scholarship

The University of North Florida Foundation, Inc and George Sares are proud to offer the Sares and Sons Scholarship.

Criteria

Eligible students must:

  • Meet admissions requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida
  • enroll full time as an undergraduate student majoring in any degree program in the
    College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction (CCEC),
  • earn a minimum of 12 credit hours in the Fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the
    Spring semester, or adhere to the required program of study,
  • earn a minimum UNF recalculated high school GPA, transfer GPA or UNF GPA of
    2.75,
  • complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA),
  • demonstrate financial need as defined by the University’s Office of Financial Aid,
    and
  • preference given to veterans from any branch of the United States Military.

Responsibilities

Students awarded this scholarship must also agree to:

  • enroll full time with at least 12 credit hours in the Fall and Spring semesters and earn
    a minimum of 24 credits by the end of each academic year,
  • maintain a GPA of at least 2.75,
  • comply with all University regulations, rules and codes of conduct governing students
    on campus,
  • consent to release grades to the Division of Development and Alumni Engagement
    for the purpose of reporting to the Donor,
  • file FAFSA form with the federal government each year, and
  • remain in good standing as a student.

Renewal

  • Current recipients are eligible for renewal and will be given preference pending
    availability of funding, and if all of the preceding requirements have been met.
  • No student will be eligible to receive more than eight semesters of scholarship support as
    an undergraduate student or more than six semesters of scholarship support as a graduate
    student.
  • The amount of the award will not exceed the maximum cost of tuition, fees, books, campus housing, meal plan, transportation and miscellaneous expenses, as reflected inthe annual "Cost of Education" budget prepared by the Financial Aid Office. The amount of the award will be determined by the fund manager.
