2021 American Institute of Constructors (AIC) Ethics Competition

Congratulations to our Construction Management (CM) Ethic Team members!

For the first time participation, the University of North Florida Construction Management (CM) students took overall 2nd place (1st Place: Written Repose and 3rd Place: Final Presentation) and Francesca Arnold (senior student) got selected as the Most Valuable Presentator at the American Institute of Constructors (AIC) Ethics Competition, a national construction ethics competition by AIC on the 29th of March. UNF CM team members comprise four (4) undergrad students: Francesca Arnold., Vidahlia Husek., Cihan Catalbas, and Charles Lentsch and team coach, Jonghoon 'John' Kim, assistant professor.

This competition was a two-step process:

  1. Written response based on the given ethical scenario questions and
  2. 25 mins virtual oral presentation.

Our team members analyzed the problem statement based on a real scenario, which includes unprofessional and unethical behaviors in the construction contract process and ignorance of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. The team was asked to write an essay and give the oral presentation of their analyses to ten (10) industry judges.
