Chairs Welcome

Dr. Sherry Pinkstaff, Chair and Associate Professor - Department of Physical Therapy

Hello!

I am pleased that your journey has led you here. If you are a prospective student, please explore our entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program by seeing what courses we offer each semester, what our current PT students are up to – and maybe most importantly, how to apply. After you leave, be sure to check in regularly to see the latest in how are students are volunteering throughout Jacksonville (SPTA), learn important admission updates, and enjoy new pictures of our students and faculty in the classroom and community.

If your search for a faculty or staff position is what brought you here, please take some time to explore our Vision, Mission and Values. I suggest you read about our fabulous faculty as well. They are Board certified in Orthopedics, Neurology, and Geriatrics and are fellowship trained in Manual Therapy. They have received prestigious National Institute of Health (NIH) grants to develop adapted equipment for children with developmental delays. They are business owners, and patient advocates. They are also engaged in the Northeast Florida community. These are just a few of their professional accomplishments. They are all amazing human beings who have families and personal interests of which they are equally proud. It is a great honor for me to work with the faculty of the Department of Physical Therapy.

To all the others who have found themselves here - maybe you are a clinician, a patient, an alum – it is my hope that you have found what you were looking for and you discovered something that pleasantly surprised you. Regardless of how you ended up here, I hope you’re leaving with a sense of the energy that exists among our faculty, staff and students. The origin of this energy is our deep commitment to caring for each other, our high standard for academic outcomes, and our focus on serving our community, our patients and our profession through scholarship and service.

The history of Physical Therapy (PT) at UNF started more than 30 years ago and has resulted in hundreds of Physical Therapists working across the United States in a multitude of practice settings and countless patient and family lives positively impacted. We are so very proud of this legacy and want to honor it, enhance it and expand upon it in the next 30 years and longer. We invite you on this journey.
