Non-Discrimination, Equal Opportunity, Inclusion & Title IX Statement

The University of North Florida (UNF) is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of its community. UNF prohibits discrimination, harassment, and retaliation based on any protected characteristic under federal, state, or local law, including age, disability, race, religion, sex, and veteran status. This applies to all University programs and activities.

The Office of Title IX and Civil Rights is responsible for receiving and addressing reports of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation in accordance with University policies.

  • Reports of Sexual Misconduct

    “Sexual Misconduct” is a broad term that includes sexual exploitation, non-consensual sexual contact, non-consensual sexual intercourse, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and sexual harassment, as defined in the University’s Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Sexual Harassment Regulation. Sexual misconduct may constitute both criminal conduct (such as sexual battery or rape) and civil violations (such as sexual harassment), and may occur between strangers or individuals who know one another, including those in intimate or sexual relationships. Individuals of any sex or gender can commit it and may occur between persons of the same or different sex.

    The Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Sexual Harassment Regulation applies to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors. It includes separate processes for resolving reports involving students and employees. Procedures for reporting, investigating, and addressing sexual misconduct, including available remedies, are outlined in Sections V through XII of the Regulation, while Section XVII provides information about on- and off-campus resources available to individuals seeking assistance.

    Members of the University community may submit a report through the University’s Maxient online reporting system or by using the “Report an Incident” link on the Title IX homepage. Reports may also be made directly to the Title IX Coordinator by phone at (904) 620-2507 or by email at otcr@unf.edu. Questions regarding the Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Sexual Harassment Regulation may be directed to the Title IX Coordinator.

  • Reports of Discrimination

    If you believe you have experienced gender-based discrimination or another form of discrimination that is not covered by the University's Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Sexual Harassment Regulation, or if you believe you have been subjected to retaliation for reporting such conduct or participating in an investigation related to such conduct, please consult the University's Non-Discrimination, Equal Opportunity, and Inclusion Regulation. This regulation outlines the procedures for reporting, investigating, and resolving such concerns.

  • External Reporting

    Complaints alleging violations of Title IX may also be filed directly with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) by email at OCR@ed.gov or by phone at (800) 421-3481. Additional information is available at the Office for Civil Rights website.

    University policy, as well as federal and state law, strictly prohibits retaliation against any individual who, in good faith, reports discrimination or harassment based on sex, gender, or gender identity or expression, or who participates in an investigation of such reports.
