Construction Management student team wins award at national builder conference
UNF’s CCEC student team from Construction Management won the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Award, which provides $1,000 for the student chapter and a traveling trophy for the construction management department, at the annual NAHB competition in Las Vegas.
The annual NAHB Student Competition has been a memorable part of the International Builders’ Show (IBS) for more than 30 years as it gives student members the opportunity to apply the skills learned in the classroom to a real construction project. Teams complete a management project and submit it to construction company executives who act as judges. During the convention, students defend their projects to a panel of judges in front of an audience.
UNF’s student team consisted of Max Andrews as president, Connor Haynes, Jacob Bennett, Cameron Stagner, Zachary Thorsen, and Henry Arambu-Cruz, who competed in the Production Home category against 40 other universities to create a proposal for a new development community sponsored by D.R. Hortonin.
