UNF presents 2022 Distinguished Professor Award to Dr. Michele Moore

Michele MooreThe University of North Florida officially presented the 2022 Distinguished Professor Award to Dr. Michele Moore, chair and professor of the Department of Public Health, at Convocation. The Distinguished Professor Award is presented annually to a UNF faculty member who has a balanced record of distinction at the University in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Dr. Moore has worked in the sexuality education field at UNF and in the community for more than 20 years. Her research focuses on adolescent sexual health behavior, evidence-based sexuality education programming, access to sexual health services, and community support and policies for these programs. She currently works on a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant with the Duval County Public Schools and Florida Department of Health in Duval to improve the delivery of sexuality education and access to sexual health services for local youth.

She is the author of 45 published peer-reviewed journal articles, has given 109 peer-reviewed presentations at professional meetings and had a significant role in writing and/or implementing 22 significant, funded grant projects. She was previously awarded the UNF Outstanding Faculty Scholarship Award, UNF Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award and UF Outstanding Young Alumni award.

The Distinguished Professor Award includes an honorarium of $6,000, a commemorative plaque, the listing of the recipient's name on a permanent University plaque, and an invitation to deliver the Academic Convocation address. This award is made possible through unrestricted gifts to the UNF Foundation, Inc.
