UNF hosts conversation on political antisemitism

Gunther JikeliThe University of North Florida Department of History and the Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies will host a free and open to the public lecture by Dr. Günther Jikeli on “The Return of Political Antisemitism” discussing historical sources and current trends of holocaust distortions and anti-Zionism at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Adam W. Herbert University Center, Board of Trustees Room, Room 1058.

Jikeli, an associate professor in Germanic studies and Jewish studies at Indiana University (IU), holds the Erna B. Rosenfeld Professorship at IU’s Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism at the Borns Jewish Studies Program. He is a historian and sociologist of modern Europe with particular interests in the history of antisemitism and in critical antisemitism studies.

He is the author of several books including his latest 2021 release, "The Return of Religious Antisemitism?" In 2013, he was awarded the Raoul Wallenberg Prize in Human Rights and Holocaust Studies. In 2019, his academic work was recognized by The Algemeiner as one of "The Top 100 People Positively Influencing Jewish Life."
