Engineering students present senior design projects for leading Jacksonville companies at Innovation Day

UNF student presents project at Innovation DayUNF senior engineering students in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering presented their final capstone projects at Innovation Day yesterday held annually to showcase team designs for local community partners. The projects are a culmination of student teams working together throughout the semester to develop multiple solutions for design challenges submitted by various local community and nonprofit organizations, government agencies and companies.

Innovation Day showcases these projects and how UNF students learn to overcome engineering challenges and make a real impact in Jacksonville. Several of the projects are focused on research and development and most will be implemented in the community. The projects presented are designed for many leading companies including Medtronic, Zimmer Biomet, APR Energy, Solar Stik, Sy-Klone, Anjon Holdings and more.

For the civil engineering projects, the designs are reviewed by a board of professional engineers from the local engineering community. For the electrical and mechanical engineering projects, there is a design, build and test requirement that mimics design reviews in the industry.

Company representatives were onsite at Innovation Day to discuss the projects, meet the students behind the designs, network and discuss potential opportunities within their organizations.
