UNF jazz faculty and alumni celebrated at the 34th Annual Great American Jazz Series concert

The University of North Florida School of Music recently hosted a special UNF alumni night for the 34th Annual Great American Jazz Series Concert event featuring Jamison Ross and Bob Reynolds. This special event, hosted by UNF’s School of Music and the Beaches Fine Arts Series, brought UNF jazz faculty and alumni back to campus for an enjoyable musical night of celebration in honor of UNF’s 50th anniversary.

Special guest performances featured UNF Professor Emeritis Dr. Bill Prince on clarinet and tenor sax, and current Jazz faculty member Danny Gottlieb on drums. Prince was a founding faculty member of the UNF Jazz Studies Program. The late Rich Matteson, who founded and started the jazz program, hired Prince to teach at UNF. Prince brought current UNF jazz program director, J. B. Scott, with him to UNF. Scott became the first graduate of the UNF Jazz Studies Program in December 1989 and has taught at UNF since 1996.
