Assistant Professor honored with prestigious award from the ASGSR

Dr. Candice Tahimic headshotDr. Candice Tahimic, Assistant Professor of Physiology at the University of North Florida, was recently honored with the Thora Halstead Young Investigator Award at this year's meeting of the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research (ASGSR). ASGSR is the premier international society of scientists engaged in space research.

The Thora Halstead Young Investigator Award is was established in 1994 in memory of Dr. Halstead and honors a young scientist who has made significant contributions to the field of gravitational and space research. The awardee is selected from peer nominations made by members of the society. With Dr. Tahimic’s latest achievement, UNF and the College of Arts and Sciences has solidified its presence in the scientific community as one of the U.S. institutions with an active space biology research program.

Tahimic joined the UNF Department of Biology in fall of 2020 and currently teaches Human Physiology. She also serves as program faculty in both the Biomedical Sciences program and the Master of Science degree program in Materials Science and Engineering. In addition, she is a member of the Department of Biology’s Curriculum Committee.
