2021 SOARS Research Virtual Conference Opens Today

The 2021 Showcase of Osprey Advancements in Research and Scholarship (SOARS) Virtual Conference goes live today on Wednesday, April 7. The event features over 100 undergraduate and graduate student research projects.

Similar to last year’s conference, the 2021 showcase will virtually share student research and creative projects exhibited on a sophisticated website. Projects will be displayed as posters with supplementary audio files and audio transcripts, wherein students describe the research or creative project in their own voices. In place of or in addition to the audio presentation, student researchers were encouraged to prepare a video presentation, recorded on YouTube or Vimeo. All video links will be embedded on the student project's individual web page.

“We received 112 student project submissions for SOARS 2021, many with audio and/or video presentations included,” said Dr. Karen Cousins, director of Faculty Enhancement and Undergraduate Research. “This is simply remarkable for a pandemic year when almost everything was remote. Not only that, but the level of excellence was extremely high. Our UNF student researchers are just incredible!”

Visit the SOARS 2021 Virtual Conference at 9:00 a.m. on April 7 or any time thereafter to read abstracts, view posters, experience audio and video presentations, and leave questions and comments. Posters that have been designated as Projects of Merit and those who have been selected as 2020-2021 Undergraduate Research Faculty Mentor of the Year and Undergraduate Researcher of the Year will also be revealed.
