Dr. Catherine Christie named a ‘Woman with Heart’ by Volunteers in Medicine

Christie headshotDr. Catherine Christie, University of North Florida Brooks College of Health associate dean, will be recognized along with seven other honorees as a “Woman with Heart” by Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) at their 5th Annual Women with Heart Luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Christie will be honored for her commitment to leadership, advocacy, and the health of the Northeast Florida community.

“These women have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the health of the community through their professional and personal engagement and accomplishments,” said Ann Carey, VIM Board chair. VIM is a free healthcare clinic that provides outpatient primary and specialty medical services to Northeast Florida’s working, low-income, uninsured adults.

Christie is Associate Dean and professor in UNF’s Brooks College of Health. She is a registered dietitian, fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and fellow of the Preventative Cardiovascular Nurses Association. She was recognized by UNF as Distinguished Professor in 2017.

She is also active in service to community-based programs and agencies, currently serving on the Board of the American Heart Association Greater Southeast Affiliate Health Equity Committee and as Chair of the Board of Directors of the North Florida Area Health Education Center.
