UNF named No. 1 LGBTQ+ Friendly University in Florida

UNF received 4 ½ out of 5 stars for its continual work and progress for inclusive LGBTQ+ and ally policies, programs and practices. The Campus Pride Index highlights the positive work at UNF and within higher education across the country to improve the LGBTQ+ student experience.

UNF’s LGBT Resource Center provides valuable education and resources for the entire campus community with a commitment to advocacy, equality, respect and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and allied students, faculty and staff.

“We are so glad to be recognized for the diversity, inclusion and equity work that we do at UNF as we pride ourselves in being not only a safe haven for our LGBTQ+ students, staff, and faculty, but also a voice,” said Manny Velasquez-Paredes, Director of UNF’s LGBT Resource Center. “Our work extends beyond our university grounds and bridges the gaps within UNF and the entire Jacksonville community. We will continue to take leaps and increase visibility to create a stronger sense of belonging for all.”

The Campus Pride Index is the premier national benchmark tool for LGBTQ-inclusive policies, programs and practices that work to create safer, more inclusive campus communities. The Index, owned and operated by leading national nonprofit organization Campus Pride, is supported under the Campus Pride Q Research Institute for Higher Education and benefits from strategic partnerships with professional organizations in higher education and related LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations.
