UNF Game Room fosters community and competition through virtual tournaments

The Game Room has always been a campus hub for community engagement, friendly rivalry, and all-around good times – especially during fast-paced video game tournaments. While in-person events are no longer being held due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Game Room is now bringing the excitement and competition online.

These tournaments are being held in partnership with Games Art And Music (GAAM) and its founder Ryan Thompson, a UNF alum. For tournament rules, directions on how to access the GAAM Discord, and to access the signup sheets, visit the registration links below:

  • The first tournament starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, and will feature the arcade-style soccer and vehicular mayhem multi-player game, Rocket League. Register.
  • The second tournament kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21. Contestants will play the ultra-popular combat arena game, Call of Duty: Warzone. This contest will feature a special appearance by UNF President and First Lady Szymanski to get players excited and ready for the tournament. Register.

The Game Room is planning to continue virtual tournaments and other programing throughout the fall semester, so be sure to like their official Facebook page and follow the UNF Student Union Instagram to stay up to date.
