UNF Family Weekend 2019

Registration Information

 Each guest will need register and submit the $50 payment. UNF students do not need to pay but still need to RSVP.

Friday, Oct. 25
Time Event Event Description
3 p.m. - 8 p.m. Check-in and Registration Desk Open Swing by the check-in and registration desk to pick up your Family Weekend name tags, t shirt, and agenda.Want to add a few more items to your family weekend agenda or just have questions? Stop by for assistance.
5 p.m. Hicks Honors College Dinner (Separate registration required) Honors students and families will enjoy a dinner with the Hicks Honors College Faculty, staff, and students.
5 p.m. University College Receptions Each college will host a reception for students and their families. Come by for some light refreshments and enjoy conversation with your dean, faculty members and advisors within your college.
7:30 p.m. Volleyball vs Stetson Watch the Ospreys take on Stetson in the UNF Arena. Family Weekend guests receive buy 1 get 1 tickets at the box office if you show your lanyard.
7:30 p.m. UNF Alumni Reception Alumni parents, family members and friends are welcome to join the University of North Florida Alumni Association for a reception in their honor.
8 p.m. Ospreys Got Talent Join us for singing, dancing, and talent from your UNF Ospreys.

 

Saturday, Oct. 26

9 a.m. - noon Wellness Complex-Open Fitness Whether you want to take a lap around the indoor track, a row on our rowing machines or lift some weights-our Wellness Complex will be open to students and their families to get in a good workout while visiting. Don't forget to stop by to check out our rock wall available for the whole family to try.
8 a.m. - noon One Stop Student Services-Open Do you still have questions about financial aid or notes on your student's UNF account? One Stop Student Services will be open in the Student Union to receive any documents you may need to submit or answer any questions you may have.
8 a.m. Check-in and Registration Desk Open Swing by the check-in and registration desk to pick up your Family Weekend name tags, t shirt, and agenda.Want to add a few more items to your family weekend agenda or just have questions? Stop by for assistance.
8 a.m. Yoga on the Lawn Stop by the Green for a relaxing yoga session to start your day.
10 a.m. Presidents Brunch* Hear from Dr. David Szymanski, UNF's 6th president. Dr. Szymanski joined UNF in May 2018, hear his vision for how he will take the University of North Florida to its next level of success and relevance to the nation.
10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Eco Adventures Eco Adventures will be available from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. for students and their families to take a walk through our nature trails, kayak or paddleboard around the lake or if you're feeling adventurous, taking a zip across our zipline.
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. STEP Lab Located in the College of Education and Human Services, the STEP Lab is a resource for regional preK-12 students and teachers, university faculty and students, and community/business partners. The lab's resources include robotics, life-size Legos, 3D printers, and more! Stop by the STEP Lab where learning is fun and construct your own understanding of science, technology, engineering and math!
11:30 a.m. Study Abroad Workshop Student considering studying abroad? Stop by the workshop to create a study abroad experience that meets the student's academic, career and personal goals. Then sit down with a UNF faculty or staff member to discuss the scholarships and other funding models available to make that trip come to life!
Noon FAFSA and the Furious Need assistance with filling out your 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid? Have questions about the FAFSA process and how to help your student each year? Come learn about The Free Application for Federal Student Aid and have all your questions answered by Will Hunter, the Director of Financial Aid.
1 p.m. Position Yourself for the Future-College Career Services Career Services invites you to join them for a moderated student panel featuring current UNF undergraduate students who will share their experiences on campus and in the workplace regarding careers and their future.
1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Coffee with Contemporaries* The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, a cultural institute of UNF, is an outstanding place to go, see and learn! Coffee and refreshments will be available. Guests will be shuttled to MOCA in downtown Jacksonville. Pre-registration is required for shuttles, which depart at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
2 p.m. The Art of Entrepreneurship and Innovation* Gen Z (your students) are poised to be the most entrepreneurial generation ever. Learn how UNF is helping to foster these self-starters to develop business plans and skills and concepts for launching a business. Guests will be shuttled to our Center Entrepreneurship and Innovation for in downtown Jacksonville. Pre-registration for the shuttle is required.
4 p.m. Finals-Plan for Success This is a workshop that will help parents understand how to best direct their students to resources surrounding finals preparation. Topics covered include: syllabus management, stress management and utilization of resources on campus. Hosted by Student Academic Success Services.
7 p.m. An Evening of American Jazz UNF has one of the best jazz programs in the country, let us showcase our outstanding student and faculty jazz musicians. Refreshments will be available.
8:30 p.m.      Family Weekend Movie Night Come enjoy a movie under the stars at the UNF amphitheater while snacking on popcorn and ice cream.

Sunday, Oct. 27
Time Event Event Description

8 a.m. Run with the Registrar Meet at the Student Union for a light 5k around campus with the university's registrar, Chad Learch.
10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Check-in and Registration Desk Open Swing by the check-in and registration desk to pick up your Family Weekend name tags, t shirt, and agenda.Want to add a few more items to your family weekend agenda or just have questions? Stop by for assistance.
10 a.m. Coffee and Conversations Join our Interfaith Center to hear students tell stories about how they embrace their own beliefs on campus and build friendship with students of differing religions and worldviews.
noon - 2 p.m. UNF's One Spark Jacksonville's One Spark is the world's largest idea fest-where entrepreneurs are able to seek feedback and interest in their concepts by the community. We will have our own UNF One Spark will allow our students to present the outstanding research conducted on our campus and in our community. Guests will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite.
10 a.m. Jacksonville Jaguars Football Game and Tailgate** Enjoy a tailgate at 10 a.m. and discounted tickets to see our Jacksonville Jaguars take on the New York Jets at 1 p.m.!
1 p.m. Volleyball vs Kennesaw Watch the Ospreys take on Kennesaw in the UNF Arena. Family Weekend guests receive buy 1 get 1 tickets at the box office if you show your lanyard.
6 p.m. River City Rumble Witness UNF women's soccer take on Jacksonville University as part of The River City Rumble, an annual season long series between UNF and JU in our 14 Division 1 sports. UNF currently leads the series 8-6. The winner at the conclusion of the 22 game series receives the "Old Wooden Barrel". Family Weekend guests receive buy 1 get 1 tickets for all athletic games during family weekend.

Jacksonville Jaguars Football Game and Tailgate

Come watch the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the New York Jets. Before the game, enjoy a tailgate with all you can eat food and drink inside the gates! 

The tailgate and the game both require separate, paid tickets.
