The Johnson Scholarship, funded by the Johnson Scholarship Foundation, is a competitively awarded program, which is available to undergraduate students with disabilities enrolled in a State University System of Florida (SUS) institution.  Students must meet the following requirements to be considered for scholarship selection:


  • Be a Florida resident for tuition purposes;
  • Be seeking a first baccalaureate degree;
  • Complete a Theodore R. and Vivian M. Johnson Scholarship Application;
  • Meet academic requirements;
  • Provide documentation of the nature and/or extent of a disability, and
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)/institutional need.  Submit a FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA form by the required deadline at fafsa website.  Confirm that the Federal School Code for your university is designated so that the university has access to your results in assessing a student’s unmet financial need.





  • Complete and return an acceptance form or contact the appropriate institution representative (listed at the end of the application) by the date specified in your notification letter, as failure to return the acceptance form by the specified date will result in forfeiture of the award;
  • Participate in a Johnson Scholarship orientation (first-time applicants);
  • Complete a minimum of nine (9) credit hours each semester;
  • Adhere to the minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average requirement of this program, and
  • Continue to have unmet financial need.



2020-2021 SAS-Student Government (SG) Scholarship

Student Government is offering a scholarship for students registered with the Disability Resource Center. Please see the information below to apply for this scholarship.


Disability Resource Center Scholarship - $1,500 – 1 award


Must be registered with the Disability Resource Center,

Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate credit hours each term, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, at UNF,

Has a minimum UNF cumulative GPA of 2.75,

Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Submit a typed resume and a typed essay describing how your educational experience at UNF has prepared you for life after college,



Scholarship applications will be available on the Student Government website beginning Monday, August 17, 2020. The deadlines for applications to be submitted to the Student Government Business Office is Monday, September 14, 2020 by 5:00pm.

This scholarship is awarded to one undergraduate student annually. The amount awarded can vary from $2000 up to $2500.


Student must be accepted to the University of North Florida, Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA), Demonstrate financial need as defined by the University's office of Financial Aid, Be registered with and receiving services from UNF Student Accessibility Services.

Student Responsibility

Enroll in at least 6 credit hours each semester and earn a minimum of 12 credits by the end of each academic year, Maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 for the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years, Applicants have been limited to undergraduates, Remain in good standing as a student, Student may apply for renewal


November 15th -completed applications are due, Applications must include an unofficial transcript, a personal statement, and Two (2) letters of recommendation, FASFA information is verified by Financial Aid and finalists are determined
