The University of North Florida and iMobile3, a Jacksonville-based software company that develops payment solutions on mobile devices, have partnered to create the iMobile3 Lab at UNF. The updated lab in the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction’s School of Computing is dedicated to the study and development of applications for mobile devices.

“The generous donation and on-going collaboration with iMobile3 greatly enhances our computing curriculum,” said Dr. Sherif Elfayoumy, director of the UNF School of Computing. “This is another example of a model of local businesses partnering with the University to advance education, benefit the donor and continue to play a critical role in economic development.”

As part of the lab’s development, iMobile3 donated 30 iMac computers and 30 iPad Air devices to help ensure University students are training and developing projects using the latest technologies necessary for education and research in mobile computing. In addition, technical staff from iMobile3 will serve as guest lecturers during mobile app development classes.

“iMobile3 is fortunate to have built a collection of exceptionally talented individuals, including a healthy roster of UNF graduates, who routinely deliver award-winning mobile payment solutions to some of the most recognizable companies in the country,” said Bob Leonard, CEO of iMobile3. “We believe if we do our small part to support the University then it will continue graduating smart individuals who will bring innovative ideas and the most desirable technology skills to the entire Northeast Florida business community.”

UNF’s College of Computing, Engineering and Construction is dedicated to the promotion of an academically exciting and progressive intellectual climate, characterized by a superior program of instruction, peer-recognized scholarship, effective support services, and productive professional community involvement.
