Confucius Institute Hosts Nanjing University Traditional Instruments Orchestra Concert

            Confucius Institute at the University of North Florida will host a special concert performance by the Nanjing University Traditional Instruments Orchestra from Nanjing, China at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25 in the Fine Arts Center Lazzara Performance Hall on the UNF campus.


            The concert will showcase various traditional Chinese instrument performances, including Zheng and bamboo flute solos, as well as erhu, plucked instruments and pipa ensembles. The orchestra also offers tai chi and Chinese painting and writing performances. 


            There is no charge for admission, however e-tickets are required and can be obtained here.


            Founded in 1996, Nanjing University Traditional Instruments Orchestra is composed of undergraduates, graduates and doctoral students. The Orchestra has performed more than 500 performances, presented nearly 1,000 pieces of traditional Chinese music and received distinguished awards from National Students Art Festival Instrumental Competition.  


            The Confucius Institute at UNF focuses on enhancing teacher training, increasing resources and building relationships with K-12 schools while providing leadership and support for Chinese teaching.
