UNF Celebrates Nest Fest 2008 Homecoming

The University of North Florida will celebrate its annual homecoming Friday, Feb. 15, through Saturday, Feb. 23. Nest Fest 2008 features numerous events, including a comedy show with funny guys Demetri Martin and Kyle Cease, basketball games, a homecoming pageant, a Day of Fun on the Green and a Swoop the Loop 5K run.

Friday, Feb. 15
UNF Men’s Basketball Game
Veteran’s Memorial Arena
7:30 p.m.
Free with student I.D.
Come watch the UNF men’s basketball team take on Jacksonville University.

Saturday, Feb. 16
Swoop the Loop 5K
UNF Arena
Race, 9 a.m.; registration, 8 a.m.
$20 registration online at or on the day of race
Come race for a cause with proceeds to benefit the UNF Disability Resource Center.

LGBT Homecoming Celebration
Precision Imaging Centers, 7860 South Gate Parkway
5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Your invited to share in this inaugural event, which highlights the progress made on campus for the LGBT community and changes on the horizon.

Homecoming Comedy Show
UNF Arena
8 p.m.
Admission: students, free; $5, alumni; $10, general public
Tickets can be purchased at the UNF Ticket Box Office at (904) 620-2878.
The show features Demetri Martin, official Trendspotter on “The Daily Show with John Stewart” and Kyle Cease, known for his role as Bogey Lowenstein from the Touchstone feature “Ten Things I Hate About You.”

Come watch some of the women from UNF get down and dirty in a flag football tournament.

Monday, Feb. 18
Homecoming Pageant

Contestants will compete in this event in a variety of categories, ranging from talent to evening wear.

Tuesday, Feb. 19
Lazzara Theater
8 p.m.
The great pretenders of UNF come out to take part in a competition of showmanship.

Wednesday, Feb. 20
Emeriti Luncheon

11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This annual event is hosted especially for UNF alumni who are in their retirement years, enjoying lunch, guest speakers and entertainment.

Day of Fun on the Green

Noon to 4 p.m.
Join us on The Green as we have a day of fun. Students and alumni can build a bear, participate in spin-art Frisbee, rock climbing, robo-surfing or armchair basketball.
