To continue to help and assist university students in need, UNF’s Student Government is contributing $250,000 to the UNF Student Emergency Relief fund. The fund will be used to help students who are facing financial hardships.

The new Student Government Body President, Ally Schneider, spearhead the contribution of funds as her administration is dedicated to doing what is best for students and assisting them in tangible and impactful ways. Aid for students is a priority initiative for the Schneider-Dougherty administration.

Student Government passed two pieces of legislation that will contribute $230,000 to the relief fund, with another $20,000 being contributed from its executive budget. These funds will allow the University to help even more students who are in need due to challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, President Szymanski recently announced that he will take a 15% salary reduction in fiscal year 2020 and the President’s Office will have a 65% reduction in its operating budget for fiscal year 2021 which will help to create more than $250,000 in new student scholarships and need-based aid.

The Student Emergency Relief Fund operates within the Office of the Dean of Students. More information on the fund can be found on the Relief Fund webpage.
