All military connected Ospreys are invited and encouraged to attend MVRC events throughout the semester. They are always free, fun or educational, and often include lunch! Fall 2023

Onboarding: Aug. 18th 

The UNF Military and Veterans Resource Center (MVRC) would like to invite all new military-connected Ospreys to our Onboarding event, which is an orientation specifically designed for incoming active duty military, veterans, reservists, military spouses and military children.The event will share important information about VA education benefits, out-of-state tuition waivers, scholarships, exclusive resources and more. You will also have the opportunity to meet the MVRC staff members, hear from Student Financial Services and Student Accessibility Services, and earn free swag just for attending!

Treats 4 Trivia: Aug. 21st

Happy first day of classes, Ospreys! The Military and Veterans Resource Center will be handing out treats in exchange for answering a military-and-UNF-themed trivia question! This event is open to all UNF students - you do NOT need to be military-connected to participate. We will be outside Building 2, Founders Hall, on the Engineering side. Hurry by before or between classes - supplies won't last long!

Tabling: Aug. 22nd & Aug. 24th 

Come stop by our table outside of Building 2. Grab some swag or a snack on your way to class!

SAFE Project: Sept. 15th & Sept. 16th

The SAFE Project Veteran Wellness program assists veterans, active-duty service members and military families in addressing the stressors associated with service and transition.This program, made by and for veterans, has proven to empower veterans who face mental health challenges and substance use disorders to thrive in their transition from service. Combat Paper Workshop: Nov. 3rd - Nov. 5th

Come learn how to make paper from military Uniforms! Learn how to manipulate paper pulp, Add images and text to tell stories about the military experience . Taught by Drew Cameron, the Founder of Combat Paper Project and former U.S. Army Military Sergeant

Keeping It Clean: Sept. 20th

Come stop by the MVRC to get some tips and tricks on how to keep your dorm room fresh and clean. We will show how to clean your fridge,  check expiration dates and keep the bugs out of your space. 

Mocktails with the MVRC: Oct. 18th

Come and Join the MVRC and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority life to talk about the National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week! Make mocktails, meet new people and the discuss the importance of Substance Abuse with Alcohol. It will be held in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life in the Student Union East wing on the Second Floor, from 1pm-3pm!

Veteran's Day Tribute: Nov. 7th

This annual event honors and recognizes military connected students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members who have served or are still serving in the military. Join us for the ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Veterans Plaza. The ceremony will include a performance by the UNF Brass Quintet and UNF ROTC will provide the Color Guard. We can't wait to see you there ! 

MVRC Market Day Take Over: Nov.8th

Haven't you heard we're taking over Market Day ! We will be dedicating this Market Day in honor of Veteran's Day. There will be food, fun and our some of our favorite UNF departments there to mingle with ! Located in the Osprey Plaza from 10am-2pm !

Combat Paper: UNF Response: Nov. 16th

Join us for the opening reception of the Combat Paper Exhibit at Lufrano Intercultural Gallery. Exhibition showcases works created by participants of Combat Paper project at UNF, a hand papermaking workshop facilitated by artist and Iraq war veteran Drew Francia Cameron that teaches veterans to make paper from United States military uniforms. Located in the Lufrano Intercultural Gallery: UNF Student Union on the second Floor, Suite 2401; Held this Thursday, November 16th from 5:00pm -7:00pm.

Military Appreciation Game: Dec. 2nd 

Meet us at the Military Appreciation Game hosted on December 2nd at 2pm at the Men's Basketball Game! There is FREE admission for Military, Immediate Family and students. The MVRC will be announcing the 2023 Student Veteran of the Year! Please contact the MVRC at (904) 620-5131 for any questions !

Career Planning Workshop for Veterans and Military Spouses: Nov. 17th

Interested in attending a Career Planning Workshop for Veterans and Military spouses?  UNF MVRC and My Career Assist will host a workshop on Modern Career Planning on Friday, November 17th at UNF's Adam W. Herbert University Center from 9am to 1:30pm, lunch and refreshments will be served.  You will learn elements of Modern Career Planning and generate your custom career development plan.  This document would serve as your roadmap to acquire the necessary skills required for you to successfully transition into your first job.  Additionally, professionals from local Veteran friendly businesses will be present to participate and to share their experiences working in various industries such as transportation and logistics, medical devices, aerospace, and engineering materials.  Please feel free to contact at mvrc@UNF.edu or info@mycareerassist.com for any questions!

Canvas and Caffeine: Dec. 5th

We know Finals Week can be a hassle but you don't have to do it alone ! Come into our center grab from Free Coffee and Study in our Study rooms or anywhere within the center! Our SVA members will be there to study with you, let's knock out Fall Semester as a team !  Snacks will be provided and it will be from 3pm-5pm!

Veteran's Graduation Recognition Ceremony: December 8th 

We will be celebrating our Military-Connected Ospreys who are graduating this fall semester at our Graduation Recognition Ceremony on December 8th from 12pm-1:30pm in the Herbert University Center, Room 1027. The MVRC would like to present our graduating Active Duty Military, Veterans, Reservists, National Guard and ROTC students with an Americana Graduate Cord and Service Branch Pin to wear during their graduation ceremony. There will also be student pins and ribbons for military spouses and dependents. Families are invited to this event and a light lunch will be served after a brief ceremony. If you would like to attend the ceremony, please RSVP with our programming coordinator, AJ Felix to plan accordingly.

W.O.W Blue Years Tabling: Janaury 8th 

Come and Stop by our table for merch and treats in the Student Union Ballrooms on Monday, January 8th from 12pm -2pm! This is an opportunity to meet multiple departments and organizations on our campus as we welcome them back for the spring semester! 

Know Your C.O. : January 11th 

Join us January 11th at 11am in the MVRC to learn more about the process of VA certification, get advice and insight on the details on your VA Education Benefits. This event is held during Add/Drop week at the beginning of the semester in case students need to make any changes to their class schedule that would effect their certification of classes.

Meet & Greet the SVA: January 24th 

Student Veterans of America is a student organization for veterans and military connected ospreys to come together for supprt, networking and friendship! Interested in joining Student Veterans of America? Meet the club on Wednesday, January 24th at 1pm in the MVRC. Snacks will be provided!

Fresh Check Day: Febuary 6th 

UNF Housing hosts it's 7th annual Fresh Check Day on Tuesday, Febuary 6th during Homecoming Week from 11:00am - 2:00pm. This event emphasizes resources, tools and activities that focus on suicide prevention and bystander intervention. Come and stop by our booth to participate in activities that put our students, At Ease. Our At Ease Activities will include writing a message in a bottle, creating hope rocks, wring courage connection letter and more ! Can't wait to see you there! 

Blue & Grey Homecoming Tabling: Febuary 7th 

Come and Stop by our table for merch and treats at the Osprey Plaza on Wednesday, Febuary 7th from 10am -2pm. This Market Day event is hosted by the Student Union in spirit of Homecoming Week, come in your best Osprey Gear! Go Ospreys!

Homecoming Village : Febuary 10th

Homecoming Village is brought to you by the UNF Alumni Association. This event is gather our ospreys for school school for our Homecoming Men's Basketball Game vs. Central Arkansas at 2pm! Join us for this family-friendly event that features this year's Homecoming shirts, along with yard games, food trucks and much more. Come and stop by our table to see how we show school spirit! This event is free for all Osprey alumni, faculty/staff, friends and families!

Women's Veterans Week: March 11th - March 15th 

  • March 12th: Girl Dinner with the MVRC
    • Join us in our huge potluck and meet different women groups on campus! More details will be announced closer to event date.
  • March 13th: Movie Night
    • Sit back and relax with us as we have movie night! Bring friend and a blanket! More details will be announced closer to event date.
  • March 14th: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
    • Join us for our block party that emphasizes the importance of women's health, sexual harrasment and women veterans. Meet vendors, grab food and fun with your girls! More details will be announced closer to event date.
  • March 15th: Women Veterans Appreciation
    • Please join us as we honor our Women Veterans during a semi-formal luncheon held in the Herbert University Center. More details will be announced closer to event date.
