Open Education Week is a celebration of the global Open Education Movement. Its goal is to raise awareness about the movement and its impact on teaching and learning worldwide. Student Engagement Activity

Going to school is a financial investment, that is for sure. So, how much money did you spend on textbooks this semester? In that regard, what would you be able to do with the money if your courses did not have a cost for materials? This interaction will be available to students Monday - Friday.

Online Book Display

The Online OE Week Book Display highlights free textbooks, different genres of novels, media, OER resources, and much more. Check out what the online librarians have curated to demonstrate the vast options for free resources available to students and faculty.

OER Discovery Lab

Tuesday, March 2

Time: 2:00pm - 3:00pm
Location: Zoom

OER Discovery Labs are offered each semester as a way for instructors to consult with campus OER experts while going through the process of finding, evaluating, and using open education resources (OERs). Guided by an Instructional Designer and Online Learning Librarian, participants in this hands-on workshop receive individualized assistance and are provided with strategies for finding OER materials that support their teaching style and course learning outcomes. Bring your syllabus or course objectives and use this time to actively search OER databases and UNF Library resources for course relevant content.

OER Initiative Faculty Panel Discussion

Wednesday, March 3

Time: 12pm - 1:00pm

Join a panel of experienced OER initiative participants to learn how they addressed the task of obtaining comprehensive free resources for their students. They will describe their research process and provide tips for those interested in pursuing the OER initiative at UNF. We will hold a panel discussion and then provide time for participant questions.

UNF Affordability Counts Initiative

Thursday, March 4

This brief session will provide participants with an overview of Affordability Counts as well as how to submit a course for the Affordability Counts medallion.

Perusall: Encouraging Student Interaction with Text and Video Resources

Friday, March 5

Time: 1:00pm - 2:00pm
Location: Zoom

Perusall is a free, social e-reader/annotation platform that engages and rewards students for reading and interacting with assigned text and video resources. In this event, you will hear experiences from UNF faculty who have implemented the tool in their courses and learn how to add the tool to your Canvas courses.
