Individuals attending all events on campus are reminded that $2 parking permits are required and can be purchased at the Information Booth as they enter campus.



Board of Trustees Meeting



The Board of Trustees will conduct a public meeting on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 2:30 p.m. in the Board of Trustees Room of the University Center. Agenda items include: commercial activity rule; distribution of printed material rule; demonstrations rule; recension of outdated rules; activity and service, health and athletic fees policy; parking and child development fees policy; housing fees policy; tuition policy; miscellaneous university fees policy; audit report; annual goals; 2004 legislative priorities. A copy of the agenda may be obtained by visiting www.unf.edu/trustees. Anyone requiring special accommodations to participate in this meeting may contact Shannon McLeish at 620-2500 at least three working days before the meeting.



Islam Expert to Open Lecture Series



Dr. Michael Sells, one of the nation’s most prominent experts on Islam, will discuss “Islam: A Religion of Peace” on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Robinson Theatre. His lecture is part of the inaugural year for the Distinguished Voices Lecture Series and is free and open to the public. No tickets are required for this event.

 


Sells, a professor of religion at Haverford College in Pennsylvania, has taught for 17 years in the areas of Islam; Islam and the West; comparative religions; religion and violence; and Islamic and comparative mysticism.



The Distinguished Voices Lecture Series is designed to bring experts from diverse fields to campus for interaction with faculty, staff, students and the general public.



Career Expo



UNF will have its Career Expo on Friday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University Center. The event is sponsored by Career Services for students and alumni. More than 70 employers from most industry areas will be present. Career Services also has started the Career Contact and Alumni Network, which helps to match students with UNF alumni or others in the community who want to share their professional work experiences.
