Fraternity & Sorority Life strives to be the preeminent leadership and character-development engine of the University on a local and (inter)national level. The department strives to help foster a Fraternity and Sorority Community with a sense of belonging and increased self-confidence, social skills, networking, and overall good stewardship among each organization’s chapter and within the entire University of North Florida body. Fraternity & Sorority Life endeavors to advocate for the personal growth of all students involved in a fraternal experience by supporting the common Community pillars of strong academic performance, leadership, fellowship, bolstered campus life, personal responsibility, and service to all. The zenith of the department is to ready Fraternity and Sorority college students for life to such an extent that the University embraces the Community with pride and treasures the unlimited collaborations which may occur through innovative and ongoing partnerships campus-wide.

On November 8-9, 2013, past and current members of the Rho Omega and Sigma Alpha chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. came back together to celebrate twenty years of scholarship, sisterhood and service to
the Jacksonville community. The chapters at Jacksonville University and the
University of North Florida were chartered on November 21, 1993 and the two
have been making strides to better each campus since.
Over the weekend, fifty ladies took tours to see renovations
to the JU campus, fellowshipped on the UNF Green and had a soiree commemorating
20 years of dedication to the sisterhood. At the soiree, charter members spoke
of their experiences chartering the chapters and what they would like to see in
the next twenty years. Non-perishable food items were collected for Lifeline
Resources where five single mothers will receive Thanksgiving baskets to feed
their families this holiday season.
The twentieth anniversary celebration was a great time to
reconnect and network with fellow sorority sisters and relive the college
experiences. The past members of the chapters were happy to see the growth
happening on each individual campus and look forward to returning again.
We got lots of things coming up in the next few weeks. Check out our Upcoming Events for more information.
