Pre-labs
Due at the beginning of lab and must be completed independently. Pre-lab copying is academic misconduct. Graphs for pre-labs must be printed and electronic copies are not accepted. Printing services are available in the UNF Library.

Lab reports
The experiments may be conducted and data collected in pair or teams, but all data must be analyzed independently. Copying lab reports is academic misconduct. Lab reports are due at the beginning of lab one week after completing the experiments.

A lab report is your opportunity to show that you understand what is going on in the experiment. In addition, it's good practice for getting across your thoughts about the science you are doing in a manner that the reader can understand.

All sample calculations, even trivial ones (e.g. ΔT), must be clearly shown on a separate sheet of paper. If multiple trials are performed, a complete calculation only needs to be shown for the first trial. Units must be included on all numbers (where appropriate) throughout the calculations. The calculation page(s) and graphs need to be stapled to the lab report before class.

Graphing is required for some lab reports. Some tips for graphing are given below. Commercial programs include Microsoft Excel (available in the UNF computer labs) and Origin (among others) if a trendline is needed, but free to use cloud apps like Google Docs (create spreadsheet) or Microsoft Excel Web App may also be considered.

Click design, select data. Add Series X-values, select all data from 1/T column by clicking and holding mouse button, then enter. Select y-data next. The graph will resemble the figure below.

Need to customize the graph. Chart tools-Design-Legend-Turn off legend. Remove the gridlines by clicking Gridlines-Primary Horizonal Gridlines-None. Layout-Click Axis Titles, Primary horizontal, below. Type in the axis title and include units in parenthesis. Click axix titles, primary vertical, rotated. Insert the text. Click the chart, Chart Tools, Format (Formal selection - plot area on left of menu bar), Border Color-Solid line.

Click the data, chart tools-layout-trendline linear. Select the trendline and format selection to choose the option to display the equation and R2 on the chart.

Move the x-axis units to the bottom by double clicking the y-axis. Under axis options, change the horizontal axis crosses axis value -2.5 in this case. Further customization on font sizes may be done. Click the chart, then home, change the font size. Adjust major unit size as needed. Move chart to new sheet to print full size. Fig. 6
