I grew up in Ohio, near Cleveland in a small town
on Lake Erie, Vermilion. Vermilion is known as a sailing town, but I don't sail.

I've lived in the following cities:
Vermilion, Cleveland, Columbus, Chicago, Kankakee, Peoria.
After leaving Ohio, I lived in Illinois for about 10 years
before moving to Jacksonville.

My wife, Carol Murphey has her own business as a nurse practitioner
Carol grew up in Harrisonburg, Virginia
which is in the Shenandoah Valley. She lived in Virginia, North Carolina
awhile, in New York City for a time, and in Illinois for three years
immediately before moving to Jacksonville. We met in Illinois.

We have two children, Katherine Murphey, who is in 9th grade at Douglas-Anserson School of the Arts,
and Anne Randolph, born May 10,1996 and is in 6th grade at Lavilla School of Arts
Katherine was born July 2, 1993, two weeks before we moved to Florida.
We live in an "old" brick house in the San Marco area of Jacksonville.
We are members of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church.
Finally, we have creatures. We have a cat, Boo boo and

John Garner (1633-1702) m Susanna Keene
John came to Northumberland County, Virginia in 1650. From where?
John Garner's parents may have been:
Richard and Kathryn Garner of Shropshire, England (most likely). In 1636 Kathryn was tried as a witch. In 1637 Richard and John came to Henrico County Virginia.
In 1643 Richard died in Henrico County, and presumably this John Garner in 1650 migrated up to Northumberland COunty, VA.
Richard and Elizabeth Gardiner, originally from England and then Virginia and St Marys, MD or
Thomas Garner (b. abt 1610 in Canterbury
,England) and Mary Lacye (b. abt 1613 in Canterbury, England).
They lived in Northumberland and later Westmoreland County, Virginia.

They lived in Fauquier County, Virginia.

Charles Garner m Anne Darnell
They lived in Fauquier County, Virginia.

Joseph Garner m Sarah Orr
They lived in Fauquier County til about 1802 when they moved to Clarke Cty.
, Georgia
then they moved to St. Claire County, Alabama in about 1820 and finally
they moved to Cherokee County, Alabama.
Joseph fought in the Revolutionary War while he lived in Virginia. He is
buried in Gadsden, Alabama in the Garner Cemetery where there is an
historical marker at his grave.

John A. Garner m Elizabeth Tillison
John was born in Clarke County, Georgia, moved to St. Claire County, Alabama
and after he served in the Civil War he moved to Oxford, Mississippi. John
was a high school teacher near Oxford, Mississippi

Francis Marion Garner m Sarah Sharpe. He was born in Alabama but lived most
of his life near Oxford, Mississippi. He was in the Civil War.

Marion Harlan Garner m Fannie Montezzi Marchbank. He was born in Oxford,
Mississippi. They moved from Mississippi to Arkansas in 1922 and they
moved from Arkansas to Missouri in 1943. Marion Harlan was a farmer.

James Luther Garner m Sunshine Mick
James was born in Oxford, Mississippi, lived in Arkansas, then Missouri, and
finally they moved to near Cleveland, Ohio in 1959
(I was four years old at the time.)
