MinV College Football Ranking

Below are rankings of all NCAA Division I-A (Football Bowl Subdivision) teams through the games of January 9, 2012 (i.e., through the national championship game) using MinV, a model developed by Jay Coleman of the University of North Florida.

MinV generates a ranking that minimizes the number of game score violations -- that is, the number of times a game's winner is ranked behind the team it defeated. In other words, MinV guarantees the ranking with the best retrodictive accuracy.

The ranking below results in 61 violations out of 715 Football Bowl Subdivision games played during the season, or a minimum violation percentage of 8.53%. Stated otherwise, the ranking below matches the results of 91.47% of the games played, the highest value possible.
