The meeting was called to order by Chair Luke Cornelius, at 1:00 pm.

  • Approval of the Minutes

    The minutes of the October 27, 2015 meeting were unanimously approved.
  • Introductory Remarks/Old Business

  • New Business

    Cathryn Hagan from the UNF office of the Florida Small Business Development Center (FSBDC) made a presentation on the center. The FSBDC offers several services to the business community to help them grow and succeed. The FSBDC serves 18 counties in the northeast region of the state. The FSBDC is the only university affiliated regional resource for small businesses, and it has been operating at UNF since 1976. The center serves pre-venture entrepreneurs, start-ups with less than 3 years of operation, and small and medium companies with 3 or more years of operation. The FSBDC provides low-cost training events at UNF, no-cost one-on-one consulting, information, and special programs tailored for specific topics such as growth acceleration, human resources, government procurement, and international trade. Confidentiality is a key feature of the FSBDC program which protects their client’s interests as they take advantage of the center’s services. The only requirement to use the FSBDC is that your business be located in one of the 18 counties in the northeast region of the state.   • Other Discussions/Announcement

    A Doodle poll conducted by Patrick Kreidl resulted in a determination that during the spring 2016 semester the committee meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday of the month at 11:00 AM, in the same Library location.

    Maria Atilano will work to arrange for UNF Library Dean Elizabeth Curry to speak at the January meeting.

    Luke Cornelius will reach out to Josh Merchant, Ruth Lopez, and also to Fen Yu from the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment about a possible speaker for the spring semester.

    Pieter de Jong said he would reach out to Sherif Elfayoumy, the director of the School of Computing, to see if he was available as a possible speaker for the spring semester.

    The meeting adjourned at 1:55 PM. Next meeting was scheduled for Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Library, Bldg 12, Rm 2405A.
