  • Approval of Minutes
Approval of minutes from November 2, 2017 meeting (posted on the web).
  • APC Additional Requirement

Discussion in requiring additional supporting document

    • Request for the Feedback on APC Workflow System. Is it possible to upload a document about the format on the site so people know exactly what it should look like before the request is submitted? The documents seem to reflect the prior year’s priorities and not those of the sitting committee.
    • It was suggested that a document with a check list be created so package authors can receive better guidance through the process of submitting packages.
    • Courses Overlap. It was discussed that the APC might come up with a FAQ with previous examples that came through APC in 2017. Another idea was to make sure the chairs of the APC in each college are aware of this issue and guide package authors regarding the need of documentation from other departments/colleges
    • Faculty who correct their APC packages not within the discussion after the meeting and not informing APC chair are required to return to the next APC meeting.
    • Cindy will email the APC Workflow System Renovation Proposal after the mtg.
  • Academic Programs Review (Total 15 packages)

    Reminder:
Any APC Workflow package corrections needed to be done within 2 working days after the meeting. The “EDIT” button is only accessed within 48 hours. Please don’t delay your corrections because our office and APC chair still have lots of works to complete your items for catching up the Executive Comte mtg.)

Dr. Cheek informed that she has had questions from users that they want the process to be consistent and not feel like the process changes depending on the APC committee.

    •  APC State Discipline Coordinator for International Studies & Political Science Update
Dr. Pamela Zeiser, associate professor of the Political Science & Public Administration, accepted the position. She went through the training process with Lee Bryant, Specialist III- Office of Articulation at the Florida Department of Education. Dr. Zeiser has following questions before she processed the International Studies package.

How long is the term of service?
Indefinite, as long as they like.

Is it for one discipline (INS) or two (INS and POS)?
It is for disciplines International Studies and Political Sciences; prefixes are not limited to INS and POS. Political sci pkgs – usually no more than 2 per week. Int’l Studies – one per month. Generally slow traffic.

What kind of training do I receive? (The attached manual is solely on how to access the on-line system; how do I learn about SCNS, its rules, and the referenced Florida Statutes?)
20-30 min training over phone w Lee Bryant, history, why important in Florida. V. important for articulation. How classification works, couple examples. Needs a content expert.

How much of a backlog is there at this time, of unprocessed APC requests? (For both disciplines, if I am expected to take on both.) Total backlog is 11 pkgs : 2 political science, international studies 9.

What is the average yearly (or per semester) number of requests received for processing in the discipline(s)?
    Stats above.

What are the expectations/arrangements for summertime?
Not a huge deal in summertime. Understand ppl on vacations, university less active, so less activity. Time for housekeeping.

What would be an example of a situation in which, on an ad hoc basis, I’d have to chair a faculty discipline committee?
    None.
